As I was driving to work this morning, I saw the dark clouds approaching in the sky, and I thought that I was going to show up for work, get my 2 hours show-up time, and then go home. As it turns out, as soon as all the truck drivers clocked in for work, we were all put on hold. This means that we stand around and talk, on the clock. Waiting for our boss to make a decision as to what we are going to do. With all the rain coming, do we drive the trucks, or do we go home? After about 30 minutes, my boss made the decision to put us to work. So, we hauled millings from an old job site to the asphalt plant, where it will be stored and processed later.
I thought that we would be doing that all day. But then the rain poured down harder. About 1 in the afternoon, the job was cut off. Road visibility was about 70%. Still good enough to keep driving, in my opinion. But nonetheless, all the drivers were cut off and were told to park the trucks, clock out, and go home. So here I sit, sharing my thoughts, with only a half a day's work in. And I know that next week, my paycheck is going to be small. Oh well! There will always be things like this. But, It can't rain all the time.
